Most gyms measure success by how many people walk through the door. We measure it differently: by how many members hit a new personal best this month, how many first-timers stick around past week four, and how many people leave a session genuinely stronger than when they arrived. Hartwell & Sons opened on Frankford Avenue in 2011 because Philadelphia deserved a gym that treats progress as a promise, not a tagline. Our coaches track your lifts, your cardio benchmarks, and your class attendance — and they call you out (kindly) when you're ready to level up. Warm terracotta-cream walls and natural light give the space a feel that's serious without being cold. This is a working gym, and every piece of equipment earns its floor space.

Our training staff is small enough to know every member personally. They'll adjust your programme on the fly, spot a form issue before it becomes an injury, and push you on the days you need it most.
Power racks, cable systems, rowers, kettlebells, and a turf lane — chosen because our members asked for them. Nothing gimmicky; everything maintained to a standard you'd expect from a serious facility.
HIIT, barbell strength, mobility flow, and early-bird conditioning — each class is capped at 14 so the coach can actually see you. Book ahead or drop in when there's a spot.
