Flexible plans. Firm commitment to your progress.

Hartwell & Sons offers three membership tiers designed for three different training lifestyles — not three different budgets that all get the same experience. The Open Gym tier gives independent lifters 24-hour access to the full floor, including the power racks and turf lane, with one monthly benchmark check-in included. The Coached tier adds four 50-minute personal training sessions per month and priority class booking. The All-In tier is for members who want a fully structured programme: unlimited PT sessions each week, custom periodised programming, and a nutrition tracking review every quarter. All tiers are month-to-month. We do not offer discounts in exchange for 12-month lock-ins because we believe the results should be the reason you stay. Every new member — at any tier — begins with a free strength and movement assessment with a senior coach.

What every member gets, regardless of tier.

Full floor access

Power racks, cable systems, turf lane, cardio equipment, and the kettlebell area are available to all members during open hours — and extended hours for Coached and All-In tiers.

Monthly benchmark check-in

A 20-minute session with a coach every month to log your key lifts, note your cardio benchmarks, and review what's working. Results are stored in your member profile so the trend is always visible.

Member app access

Book classes, check your benchmark history, message your coach, and review your programme notes — all from the Hartwell member app, included with every membership tier at no extra cost.

Free initial assessment

Every new member completes a 45-minute movement and strength assessment before their first full session. This gives your coach a real baseline and tells us exactly where to start.

“I signed up for Open Gym thinking I'd just use the racks and leave. The monthly check-in with Coach Priya changed that completely — she noticed my hip mobility was the actual bottleneck in my deadlift and fixed it in three sessions. I've been on the Coached tier for seven months now and my total has gone up 80 lbs.”

Membership questions, answered.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. All memberships are month-to-month with a 10-day written notice period. There are no cancellation fees and no runaround. If you need to pause instead of cancel — for travel, injury, or life — we offer up to two 30-day holds per year at no charge.

What's included in the free trial?

The 14-day trial includes full floor access, up to four class bookings, and your initial strength and movement assessment with a senior coach. You're treated exactly like a paid member during the trial. No credit card is required to start.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my tier mid-month?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and you're prorated for the difference. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Just email us or ask a coach in person — the change takes about five minutes.

Do you offer corporate or group membership rates?

We do. Groups of five or more from the same employer qualify for a 15% reduction on the Open Gym tier and 10% on the Coached tier. Contact us directly for a custom arrangement — we've worked with several Fishtown and Kensington businesses over the years.

Is the gym suitable for beginners who've never trained before?

Absolutely. The initial assessment is specifically designed to meet you where you are, not where we wish you were. Beginners are often directed toward the Coached tier because the structured PT sessions remove the guesswork that causes most beginners to stall out in the first two months.

Start with 14 days, no strings attached.
